Läkarutbildningsrådet (LUR)
What is LUR?
The Medical Education Council (LUR) is the student union’s educational affairs body for the Medical Programme and the KUL Programme. LUR consists of course representatives from each semester as well as an elected working committee (AU) from SAKS, which serves as the council’s board.
We meet four times per semester to discuss current issues relating to our education, such as problems that may have arisen in different courses, the development of the six-year Medical Programme, and our study environment. LUR also collaborates with other medical education councils across Sweden and regularly participates in national meetings (OMSiS).
We also appoint and coordinate student representatives who represent medical- and KUL students in important working groups and committees at the Sahlgrenska Academy. This gives students substantial opportunities to influence both our education and our time at university!

Meeting dates
Our meetings are held in person, usually in the Jörgen Lehmann lecture hall in Academicum, with the option to join via Zoom (i.e. hybrid meetings).
Four meetings are planned to be held during the spring, the dates for these are:
- 10 September
- 15 October
- 12 November
- 10 December
You are welcome to simply turn up and listen - no registration is required. Would you like to receive invitations to our meetings? Contact us and we will add you to our mailing list! Meeting invitations are sent by email one week before each meeting. Our meetings are also published on Orbi.
Education monitoring
In addition to the Executive Committee, LUR is primarily driven by course/semester representatives and student representatives.
Semester representatives represent the students in their current semester or course, while student representatives participate in working groups within the Sahlgrenska Academy that deal with matters affecting more than one individual semester.
Semester representatives are elected by their fellow students, preferably at the beginning of a new course. Once the course management has been informed of the election, you will be contacted by LUR via email.
Student representatives are elected at LUR meetings. As they represent students in relation to the Sahlgrenska Academy, you should contact us first if you are interested in becoming a student representative.

LUR also works with issues relating to students’ study environment and wellbeing. For example, one of our previous focus areas has been “Mental health among medical students.” As part of this work, we produced a leaflet on mental health (in Swedish) containing information about where students can turn for help. The leaflet is attached to this page and is also available in print from the student union office.
